Posting Summary

Rutgers University Behavioral Healthcare (UBHC) is seeking a part-time Mental Health Specialist III to work in the Residental Department/Outpatient Division.  Also, the primary purpose of the Mental Health Specialist III is to ensure the safety of residents and assist them in carrying out activities of daily living.

  • Assumes individual service coordination responsibilities for individuals served.
  • Also, provides input into the development of the Individualized Rehabilitation Plan (IRP) and coordinates with supervisor and residential staff to implement the IRP interventions.
  • Likewise, provides crisis prevention interventions as directed by supervisor in response to consumer/residents crisis.
  • Similarly, oversees the Self Administration of Medication and documents in the Medication Administration Record (MAR). Furthermore, provides education to consumers about medication side effects and proper administration techniques.
  • Additionally, drives consumers to appointments, shopping, recreation activities and self help meetings; provides educational information, supports and linkage.
  • Moreover, maintains consumer resident’s records.


Minimum Education and Experience

  • Three (3) years of full-time paid experience in the mental health field or two (2) years of college majoring in a relevant social or health care field plus one (1) year of full-time experience in the mental health field.  

Certifications/Licenses

  • Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish). 
  • Also, Residential experience with the adult mental health population.


Special Conditions

  • Must be able to travel to meetings and scattered program locations throughout the week.
  • Likewise, Holiday, evening, weekend and overnight availability.
  • Moreover, must possess own vehicle to outreach individuals served.
