Summary:

The University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture is a state wide campus, with faculty based on University campuses, at Research and Extension Centers and in every Arkansas county. Additionally, it consists of the Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station (AES) and the Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service (CES), and is home to more than 1400 employees. Job Duties:

  • Perform regular accessibility audits of official CES websites and web applications.
  • Also, perform accessibility evaluations for websites and applications under consideration for purchase and deployment.
  • Work with IT staff to implement and evaluate accessibility features for web applications and software.
  • Likewise, evaluate accessibility of external platforms that host institutional content, such as YouTube.
  • Troubleshoot, evaluate, and recommend assistive software and hardware for testing or for employee use.
  • Additionally, establish guidelines, best practices and standards related to designing and maintaining accessible websites, IT software systems and online materials.
  • Furthermore, work with social media manager to stay abreast of the latest in social media accessibility best practices; advise on social media accessibility best practices

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in technical writing, web design, education, information systems, or related field.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to speak & write clearly & communicate ideas.
  • Also, ability to create training materials and video tutorials.
  • Similarly, skill to organize, plan, & prioritize work.
  • Knowledge of the latest accessibility laws and regulations.
  • Additionally, ability to attend to details while simultaneously handling multiple projects.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, & apply relevant accessibility regulations, policies, & procedures.
  • Likewise, initiative to learn & maintain current accessibility guidelines.
  • Furthermore, physical & mental ability to effectively perform duties & responsibilities related to the job, which may include long & irregular hours of work.
