Australian Student Visa: Things You Should Know

Department of Home Affairs has vaulted every Australia Student Visa holder with certain conditions and restrictions. And the Australian government is very solid and rigid in those terms and conditions. Every foreigner on a Student visa must imply with those terms and conditions of Australia Student Visa. So, here are some of the major things you should know about the Australian Student Visa:

1. Work Limitation

i. A student in Australia on a student visa cannot work more than 40 hours per fortnight. Similarly, you cannot start paid work or internship before your course starts.

ii. However, you will not have working limitations during school holidays and vacations. Similarly, there will be no barriers if you are doing a Doctorate course and postgraduate researches.

2. Meet course requirements and Maintain attendance threshold

i. If you are studying in Australia on a student visa then you must maintain your enrolment and must enroll in full-time study (four subjects per semester).

ii. Likewise, you must meet the minimum attendance threshold to imply with your student visa conditions. Generally, Australian universities set a total attendance threshold of 75% in a semester.

iii. In addition to that, you must pay your tuition amounts and all the dues within the specified time given by your education provider.

3. Insurance

All the foreigners and overseas students traveling or residing inside Australia must have health insurance. Similarly, international students must have arranged health insurance i.e. OHSC (Overseas Student Health Cover) before they go to Australia.

4. Personal Details

i. During your stay in Australia, you must provide your personal details like accommodation address, email, contact number, and emergency contact to your education provider. In case if you change your details then you must notify your institutions within 7 days.

ii. If you are below 18 years of age then you must have accommodation arrangements and support in Australia. On the other hand, your general welfare must be arranged during your stay in Australia. That means you must have parents or legal custodian in Australia and they must be over 21 years of age with good behavior. And, you must not change your welfare arrangements without the approval of your education provider.

5. Criminal conducts and activities

You must not be involved in any kind of criminal conducts or activities while you stay in Australia. Following, you must not do anything that harms the Australian community or people residing in Australia.
