Academic Scholarships
Mathile Scholarship (Full-tuition)
Selected students with a minimum ACT score of 30 (1360 SAT, evidence-based reading and writing plus math) and a minimum high school GPA of 3.5 will be considered for this award. Finalists will be invited to complete on-campus evaluations. Students must apply for admission and be accepted to the university prior to December 1 for Mathile consideration. Two full-tuition renewable scholarships will be awarded in honor of the contributions ONU alumnus Clayton Mathile and his wife, Mary, have made to Ohio Northern University. The Mathile Scholarship will replace all other ONU scholarships and awards.
James F. Dicke Scholarship (Full-tuition)
Students who are admitted to the James F. Dicke College of Business Administration and have a minimum ACT score of 29 (1330 SAT, evidence-based reading and writing plus math) and a minimum high school GPA of 3.5 will be considered for this award. A selection committee will determine finalists, who will be invited to campus to interview. From these interviews, a recipient of the James F. Dicke Scholarship will be selected. The scholarship will renew each year for a maximum of four years.
Talent Award (Up to $4,000 per year with an audition/portfolio review)
Talent awards are available to students in the College of Arts and Sciences who choose a major in the Studio Arts, Graphic Design, Music (majors and non-majors), Musical Theatre, Theatre or English. Also, students who minor in dance or participate in any of the auditioned ensembles can qualify for a talent award. Talent award consideration in these programs requires an audition, portfolio review or interview. Talent awards are coordinated with other University grants and scholarships.
Math and Engineering Education Scholarships ($20,000 per year)
This scholarship is awarded to junior and senior math education and engineering education majors in addition to everything else included in that student’s financial aid package. To be eligible, students have to pledge that, after graduating, they will spend two years in a high-need school district for every year of receiving the scholarship.
In addition to school districts across the U.S., many local districts have been designated as high-need, including Elida, Lima, Perry, Findlay, Kenton, Piqua, Dayton, Toledo, and Leipsic. To keep the scholarship, students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 and participate in at least 40 hours of experiential learning activities per year.

Choose Ohio First Scholarship (up to $7,300)
In partnership with the Ohio Board of Regents, ONU offers a scholarship for Ohio students who major in certain STEM fields. These include majoring in Education in a STEM field; Pharmacy; Nursing; Exercise Physiology; Medical Laboratory Science; Public Health; and Pre-Professional programs. To quality, students must be residents of Ohio and have an overall cumulative high school GPA of 3.3. or higher and an ACT composite score of 24 (1160 SAT) or higher. For transfer students, the previous college GPA must be 3.0 or higher.
