Purpose:
- Review the architectural drawings to ensure suitability for the proposed operational use, optimal designs in terms of suitability for Somalia context;
- Also, analysis and carrying out structural designs for the proposed buildings and supporting infrastructure including the foundation system and in accordance with the adopted design standards;
- Develop structural design drawings in compliance with UNOPS design standards / manuals, supported with design specifications and documentations to support UNOPS design review;
- Additionally, available to support the team members with structural engineering input to the quantities and estimation sheets preparation;
- Likewise, assist the client to respond to bidder inquiries related to structural elements of the design and provide clarification to the client on as requested basis during bid evaluation process;
- Furthermore, available to carry out revisions to the structural elements upon client request during works implementation and to coordinate the necessary approvals;
- Archive files for all design documentation, memos and instructions in correct format and in line with UNOPS archiving procedures
- Moreover, participate in project team meetings, knowledge sharing sessions and site visits.
Qualifications and Experience
A. Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Building Engineering or relevant related field is required.
- Also, Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Building Engineering or relevant related fieldis an asset but not required.
Certification:
- Membership with a recognized institution as a registered professional Engineer is an asset.
B. Work Experience
- Minimum of two ( 2) years experience in structural engineering related to buildings designs.
- Furthermore, familiarity with design standards and manuals used in East Africa is an asset.
- Also, at least two (2) year experience and skills in using AutoCAD
C. Language requirement
- Fluency in written and oral English.
