Description:

Duties:
(a) Coordinate resource mobilization activities relevant to the WMO research priorities with particular focus on the regional needs and benefits;
(b) Also, assist with identification of and development of funding opportunities and proposals in support of the Global Atmosphere Watch (GAW); Global Atmosphere Watch (WCRP); the World Weather Research Program (WWRP) with a particular focus on the needs/recommendations of the Research Board;
(c) Additionally, assist the Heads of Divisions with the tracking, monitoring and management of a portfolio of extrabudgetary activities and projects;
(d) Similarly, support organization of training and capacity development activities of the research programs in collaboration with the Education and Training Office of the Member Services and Development (MS) Department and engages with the Early Career Scientist community;
(e) Assist in the development and coordinate extrabudgetary projects in support of Integrated Global Greenhouse Gas Information System (IG3IS) and promote IG3IS resource mobilization strategy;
(f) Likewise, contribute to Horizon Europe Mission “Adaptation to Climate Change” and development of 2030 solutions;
(g) Additionally, collaborate with the Head, WMO European Union Affairs Office on funding opportunities with emphasis on research;
(h) Furthermore, assist in preparation of reporting for donors, external auditors and co-sponsors;
(i) Moreover, carry out other relevant duties.
Qualification:
Education
- Master’s degree or equivalent in Weather Science or a related field (Earth System Science, Meteorology, Oceanography, Climatology, Hydrology).
- Also, a first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience
- A minimum of five years of combined national and international progressively responsible experience in project or program management, administration or related area.
- Formal qualification or equivalent experience in scientific communication, knowledge brokering and stakeholder engagement.
- Additionally, experience with the United Nations system would be an advantage. Experience writing reports, documents and correspondence.
- Maturity of judgement, initiative and tact.
- Likewise, excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Furthermore, good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Other requirements
- Ability to plan, organize and manage the work with minimum supervision.
- Also, ability to draft clear and succinct communication items, reports, documents and correspondence.
- Maturity of judgement, initiative and creativity. Excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Additionally, excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment and to foster diversity and team spirit.
Languages
- Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written).
- Also, knowledge of other official languages of the Organization would be an advantage. (Note: The official languages of the Organization are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.)
