Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Administrative Coordinator I for the Ophthalmology Department at New Jersey Medical School. Additionally, under direction of the Administrator, the Administrative Coordinator I manages office support (virtually and in-person when applicable) operations and activities for the Department of Ophthalmology while providing related administrative & general office services for the Department Chair and professional staff.
Duties
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Plans and schedules the work of the section to make maximum effective utilization of employees, equipment and material within budgetary requirements.
- Also, recommends the hiring, firing, promoting, demoting, merit increases, transfers and/or disciplining of employees and other personnel changes.
- Similarly, supervises the administrative staff who provide support to the faculty and administrator. Orients and trains staff.
- Likewise, coordinates office operations, including: forms, secretarial/clerical work, space and office equipment, internal reporting systems and ordering supplies and materials.
- Additionally, performs studies and prepares various reports on the non-technical aspects of the department.
- Similarly, serves as principal liaison between department and administrative units such as Faculty Affairs, Human Resources, IST, Accounting, and Payroll.
Minimum Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or related field.
- Also, at least two (2) years of administrative experience in a government agency, university setting, medical office or large business office with responsibility for office management, preparation of reports, supervision of staff, etc.
- Additionally, additional related experience may be substituted for the degree on a year for year basis.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience with Microsoft Office including MS Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel software packages.
