University of Southampton is a research university in Southampton, England. The university has 18th position in the United Kingdom for average quality of research, 11th for research power and 8th for research intensity. Moreover, the university has seven teaching campuses. It offers a wide range of academic degrees spanning academic degrees for bachelor’s in a variety of degrees and master’s degrees as well as junior doctorates and higher doctorates. Furthermore, it is the largest university by higher education students in the South East region. Above all, the university is in 96th position in the QS World University Rankings 2019. 

University of Southampton also provides scholarship awards to its students besides its excellent academics. The university has a number of scholarships depending upon a student’s merit, and faculty. Furthermore, there are also scholarships available from the generosity of partner organizations. Home as well as international students are eligible for the scholarships at the university. One of the high-awarding scholarships at the university is the Achievement Award. Physics and Astronomy offers the scholarship scheme accessible via a competitive scholarship exam taken at the university’s pre-Christmas Visit Days. The top five candidates in this exam will be offered a scholarship.

Eligibility for the Scholarship

In order to take the scholarship exam you will need to make a UCAS application for 2019 entry. You must make the University of Southampton your firm acceptance to be eligible. The university will then contact you to invite you to attend a Visit Day, where you will be able to take the exam.

The scholarship scheme is open to international applicants. However, in general it is necessary for the applicant to attend one of Visit Days in person in Southampton. This year it may be offering an opportunity to take the exam in a very limited number of other countries.

Award Worth

It consists of £5,000 upon registration for the first year and £5,000 per year for subsequent years subject to continuing first-class performance up to a total value of £20,000.
