Eligibility for Scholarships at the University of Waikato
To be eligible, candidates must:
- be a New Zealand citizen who is currently studying at NCEA level 3 (or equivalent) at any New Zealand secondary school, who reside in the East Coast region of New Zealand, with preference given to those applicants who reside in the Opotiki to Te Araroa area.
- Additionally, qualify for direct entry into an undergraduate degree program and enroll as a full-time (a full-time academic year comprises of 120-points) student first time in the year of tenure.
Value of Scholarship
- Each Scholarship will have a value of NZD 5,000 per year for a maximum of four years.
- Also, the Scholarship tenure is for the duration of the recipient’s undergraduate degree up to a maximum of four years, with continued eligibility dependent on regulations.
Furthermore, the University will give preference will be given to applicants who reside in the Opotiki to Te Araroa region and who demonstrate academic ability. Also, it will give consideration to those who demonstrate serious financial hardship and/or exceptional personal circumstances.
