The applications for the Leiden University Excellence Scholarships 2020 have opened.
The Leiden University Excellence Scholarship Programme (LExS) is open to outstanding Non-EU/EEA students. The students must enroll in a full-time master’s degree program at Leiden University.
Level/Field of study
All Masters programs (with the exception of regular LLM (non-advanced) programs) in the following Faculties:
- Archaeology as well as Humanities,
- Medicine/LUMC, Governance, and Global Affairs,
- Law, Social and Behavioural Sciences,
- Science, Interfacultair Centrum Voor Lerarenopleiding,
- Onderwijsontwikkeling en Nascholing (ICLON),
- African Studies Centre as well as the International Institute for Asian Studies
Awards
- The number and type of award of the scholarship depend on the budget available for each Faculty department.
Eligibility
The candidates must meet certain requirements for the Leiden University Excellence Scholarships
The candidates must have achieved excellent study results in their previous education, this being relevant to the Master’s program for which they are applying. Also, they must be among the top 10 percent of the students in the previous graduate programs.
Also, applicants must have a non+ EEA* passport and may not be eligible for support under the Dutch system of study grants and loans
Application instructions
The interested candidates must apply online for admissions for a Master’s program at Leiden University. Additionally, in their application, they must indicate reasons for applying for the LExS scholarship. Also, they should upload their letter of motivation on the scholarship page. Furthermore, the deadline for programs starting in September is 1 February while programs starting in February have a deadline of 1 October.
