Furthermore, this scholarship was established by Alice Ida Mirams to commemorate her son James Herbert Mirams, who was an engineering student at the University of Melbourne before serving in the 13th Field Company of Australian Engineers at Gallipoli in World War I. Also, this scholarship is available to students entering specialized masters programs in the Melbourne School of Engineering.

To be eligible for this scholarship, you need to:

Value of Scholarship
- The J H Mirams Scholarship is paid in two installments after the census date of the recipient’s first and second semester, for a maximum of one year.
Selection criteria :
- The University will assess the eligible candidates on academic merit, based on the results of their previous degree.
This scholarship is not transferable to other courses at the University of Melbourne.
