Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship you will have a Masters by Research (MRes) degree in Hydrology, Geomorphology, Physical Geography, Earth Science, Environmental Science or a related subject. You must have training or ability in:

  • Fieldwork design and execution
  • Additionally, working with historical hydrological datasets, that may be of coarse resolution
  • Also,  working with large hydrological datasets, that may be of high resolution
  • Likewise, modeling historical flood analysis and future flood forecasting
  • Baseline understanding of the geomorphology of river systems
  • Also, applications of science in applied contexts – e.g. flood risk assessment and natural flood management
  • Furthermore, working as part of an integrative team and with industry partners
  • Also, excellent written and oral communication skills in English

Benefits

The scholarship comprises of the Tuition Fee Offset and a Macquarie University Research Excellence Scholarship (MQRES) Living Allowance/Stipend.

Additionally, the stipend component of the scholarship currently is AUD $28,092 per annum 

Application

The position will be offered, filled, and contracted as per normal selection processes.

Given COVID-19 restrictions on travel, the start date or commencement date will be as soon as the candidate arrives in Sydney at Macquarie University. Additionally, for international candidates, this will be as soon as border restrictions are lifted in accordance with Australian Government guidelines and appropriate visas processed.
