About
The surface dynamics group at Swansea University is home to a unique molecular beam apparatus which uses magnetic field manipulations to control and measure the rotational quantum state of a molecule as it collides with a surface, experiments which are impossible to perform using any other existing technique.
The Ph.D. project, which is part of our 5-year ERC consolidator research project “rotational waves”, will include aspects of designing parts of an experimental instrument, performing ultra-sensitive surface science measurements, and designing and implementing data analysis techniques.
Additionally, the research activities are along with the interface between physics and chemistry (physical chemistry). The University requires excellent applicants from either or both of these disciplines.
Benefits
This three-year scholarship covers the full cost of UK/EU tuition fees and an annual stipend of £20,000.
