The Department of Finance at the Copenhagen Business School invites applications for a PhD scholarship in statistics.
Additionally, the Department of Finance carries out research and teaching in a wide range of financial topics but also includes the Center of Statistics as an integrated part of the department. The Center for Statistics is responsible for research and teaching in probability theory and statistics and the application of these subjects within business economics.
Furthermore, the scholarship covers a three-year period, and the student accepted for the position will be associated with the Center of Statistics. Also, relevant research topics include all topics and applications of statistics within business economics including, for example, models relevant for analyzing big data, benchmarking production companies, and credit scoring.
Eligibility for Fully Funded International Scholarships
To be considered, the candidate should have a basic training at the Master’s level (similar to the 3 + 2 Bologna process). Additionally, the applicant must have successfully completed the Master’s degree before commencing PhD at CBS, but we also welcome applications from individuals close to completion of the Master’s degree. Generally, a completed MBA education does not fulfil this requirement. Furthermore, the applicants must be fluent in English.
Likewise, the successful applicant must have shown academic excellence with a record of top grades from previously completed programs. Also, the University will give priority to candidates who have both a strong quantitative background and training in statistics.
Benefits
The scholarships are fully salaried positions, according to the national Danish collective agreement. Also, the scholarship includes the tuition fees, office space, travel grants plus a salary, currently starting from app. DKK 30,450.00 (app. 4,075.00 €) per month up to DKK 37,100.00 (app. 4,965.00 €) per month including pension contributions, depending on seniority.
Application
The application (see link below) must include a five-page project description. Also, this research proposal should contain a presentation of an original research question. Also, a description of the initial theoretical framework and methodology. Likewise, a presentation of the suggested empirical material as well as a work-plan.
In addition to the research proposal, the application must include copies of a Master’s degree certificate or other certificates of a corresponding level, brief curriculum vitae, a list of papers and publications if relevant, and one copy of a selected written work
