Fully Funded AIMS Scholarships in Africa

Apply for the Fully Funded AIMS Scholarships in Africa . The deadline for the application is 30th June / 31st October. 

The AIMS Master’s in Mathematical Sciences is a ten month program with two intakes each year (January and August). The curriculum runs over 3 semesters described below. There is an oral defense of the research project at the end of the academic year followed by a graduation ceremony.

Applications are open for South African and SADC students ONLY and the rest of the Pan African students can apply on 1 December.

 The purpose of the research project is:

  1. to give students the opportunity to work with an expert supervisor on a research project;
  2. Also, to go through the process of independently reviewing, understanding and explaining scientific or mathematical material

Eligibility Criteria

The January intake of the AIMS Structured Master’s in Mathematical Sciences is open to students following the South African academic calendar (January to December). Preference will be given to South African nationals.  Additionally, applicants should hold, or anticipate completing by the start date of the AIMS course, a 4-year university degree in mathematics, or any science or engineering subject with a significant mathematics component. Also, an applicant’s record should demonstrate strong aptitude in mathematics. Likewise, the course overview lists the courses which form part of this program. 

Selection Criteria:

The Institute will evaluate each applicant’s dossier in the light of the prior educational opportunities available to her or him. Also, potential applicants must be able to demonstrate both a high degree of motivation, and the preparation and ability to complete the course successfully.

Offered Benefits

There will be no course fee for successful applicants and the Institute will award  full bursaries covering tuition, accommodation, meals and travel costs to successful applicants.
