Loyola Marymount University offers a wide range of academic scholarship programs to recognize and reward the academic accomplishments of our most distinguished entering freshmen. No special application is required for these scholarships. All applicants for admission are automatically considered. Selection is based on academic accomplishment, including GPA, standardized test results, rigor of college prep curriculum and class standing. Additional factors may also be considered for particular scholarships, as indicated below.

Here is a summary of our scholarship programs:
Arrupe Scholarships
Named for Fr. Pedro Arrupe, the long time Superior General of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits) whose vision of Educating Men and Women for Others has become the hallmark of Jesuit education. Arrupe Scholarships are highly competitive and selective, range in value from $12,500 annually to full tuition, and are renewable for four years.
International Students who are considered for the Arrupe award compete with other students educated outside the USA in order to account for the variance in educational systems around the world. Scholarship award amounts may vary from the award amounts for domestic students and there is not a specific minimum award value.
Trustee Scholarships
The Trustee Scholarship is LMU’s most prestigious academic scholarship. Trustee Scholars receive scholarship and grant assistance equal to full tuition, room and board for four years. Ten Trustee Scholarships are offered annually. Selection is extremely competitive and includes an on campus interview with faculty during our annual Scholars Weekend. Students invited to Scholars Weekend will be notified in late January and early February.
Presidential Scholarships
Presidential Scholars are selected from among the very strongest applicants to the University and receive $25,000 annually for four years. In addition, Presidential Scholars are guaranteed admission to the University Honors Program. The Presidential Scholarship also includes a paid summer research opportunity through our Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP) and participation in the Office of Career and Professional Development’s Presidential Scholarship Mentorship Program. Housing on campus for all four years is guaranteed to Presidential Scholars, though not required.

In addition to academic accomplishment, selection for this scholarship considers involvement in school and community activities, leadership and service.
