Hey everyone! Have you ever caught yourself building up a crush or a new acquaintance into this perfect human being in your head, only to realize later they’re completely different? Why does our brain fill in the blanks with idealized traits when we barely know someone?

Hey! Creating a perfect version of someone in your head is actually a common psychological response called projection. When we lack full information about a person, our minds naturally plug the gaps with our own desires, fantasies, and ideal traits. I actually read a blog on the Wedaf website over at https://blog.wedaf.com/blog/why-people-idealize-someone-they-barely-know/ that breaks down the mechanics behind this halo effect. It explains how loneliness, romantic hope, and selective perception cause us to focus only on positive signals while ignoring red flags. It’s a great read if you want to stay grounded and see people for who they really are!
