        Yeah, Rice University does provide scholarships based on merit. Here are some of them:

        Trustee Distinguished Scholarship
        Minimum Criteria: Outstanging personal talent distinguishing them from the pool of applicants
        Separate application needed: No

        Engineering Scholarship
        Minimum Criteria: Outstanding applicant in Engineering division
        Separate application needed: No

        Rice University provides aids at an average of 46077 per student meeting 100% of students need. 100% of students with need receive financial aid at an average of 41573 need-based grant.
