I recently had to replace my Dyson V8 battery, so I thought I’d share the process and what I learned. After about three years of use, the runtime dropped from around 40 minutes to less than 10. That’s when I knew the battery was done.
Dyson uses a lithium-ion battery in the V8, and replacements are easy to find. You have two main choices: a genuine Dyson V8 battery or a third-party one. The genuine option costs more, usually \$70 to \$120, but you get the same fit and performance as the original. Third-party batteries are cheaper, often \$40 to \$60, and some offer higher capacity for longer runtime. Quality can vary, so check reviews before buying.
Replacing it took me less than 10 minutes. You just need a small Phillips screwdriver. Remove the dust bin, take out two screws (one by the handle, one on the base), slide the old battery out, and put the new one in.
After installing, charge it fully before use. My V8 now runs like new, and it was a lot cheaper than buying another vacuum. If your Dyson V8 is losing steam, a battery swap is an easy fix.
