The University of the Sunshine Coast (USC) is a public university based on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. After opening with 524 students in 1996 as the Sunshine Coast University College, it was later renamed the University of the Sunshine Coast in 1999.
USC offers a range of single or double bachelor degrees. The university has almost 100 undergraduate programs to choose from, relevant to the real world and covering a vast array of professions. Students can also take courses through associate and combined degree, diploma and honours program. Aside from all these, students are given the opportunity to study overseas.
USC sees the struggles that first-time overseas students experience in an unknown country. To address international student needs, the university begins its support services as early as pre-departure. Students are thoroughly briefed prior to their arrival in Australia. Discussions on student visa, health insurance, the essential documents to be packed and booking accommodations are all part of the pre-departure briefing.
Upon arrival, students don’t have to worry for transportation as USC offers free airport pick-up. After students are fully settled, students have to attend a week long orientation which is scheduled by the university. Guidance services, language support programs, international student advisors, an International Student Centre and international student scholarships are all offered at USC.
USC students have access to a variety of scholarships, all designed to help pay tuition fees, purchase equipment, pay for accommodation, and meet general living expenses. All types of students including international students, Australian South Sea Islander students and students coming from low-income earning families can apply for USC scholarship.
The university also has numerous scholarships available for higher degree by research students. Students may apply for external scholarships which are funded by organizations and private institutions. Headstart and faculty scholarships are also available at USC.
