Visual Arts Scholarship

Details Stevenson’s School of Design offers portfolio-based Visual Arts Scholarships to incoming freshman and transfer students who plan to major in Fashion Design, Film & Moving Image, or Graphic Design. Six to eight scholarships per program will be awarded to students starting in these majors at Stevenson for the fall semester. Awards are $2,000-$5,000 and can be combined with a Stevenson merit-based scholarship award from Admissions. Awards are renewable for four years.

After the submission deadline, all portfolios submitted will be reviewed and scholarship finalists will be selected. Scholarship finalists will be invited to campus to meet with faculty for an interview. At that time, finalists will be asked to bring a resume and portfolio. Applicants for Fashion Design will also be asked to bring two sample garments.

Applicant Instructions
The portfolio consists of:

a portfolio of 10 examples or up to ten minutes of time-based media including, but not limited to: fine art, design, digital works, fashion design, graphic design, film, animation, illustration, storyboards, or videos.
An Essay
In 300 words or less, please tell us what you hope to achieve by studying Fashion Design, Film and Moving Image, or Graphic Design in the School of Design at Stevenson University.
Freshman Applicants: To be considered for a portfolio-based scholarship, students must have all application materials for university admission, including the portfolio and essay, submitted by January 15. The Admissions Office encourages you to complete your application by the priority scholarship deadline of December 1. Submitting all materials by December 1 allows you to receive an admission decision and academic merit-based scholarship notification, if eligible, by December 25.
Leadership Scholarship

Details Leadership Scholars is a comprehensive initiative that offers participants the opportunity to engage in leadership education through personal exploration, community engagement, and collaborative problem solving. Scholars will develop effective and ethical leadership skills that prepare them to make a positive difference on campus and in the larger global community.

Application Requirements
In order to be considered for the Leadership Scholars Program and $2,000 annual Leadership Scholarship, students must do the following:

Demonstrate an exceptional commitment to ethical leadership as an incoming freshman
Have a minimum GPA of a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or an 80 on a 100-point scale
Have a minimum score of 1100 on the new two-section SAT or a 22 ACT composite score
Apply to Stevenson by January 15 for the Speciality Scholarship deadline. Stevenson’s application for admissions will be available on August 1
Complete the Leadership Scholars application (available August 1) by January 15
Complete the Application for Service and Leadership Scholars Programs by January 15.
Stevenson University Leadership Scholars applications will also be considered for the Founders’ Scholarship when interviewing. There is no separate application for Founders’. Students selected for the Stevenson University Leadership Scholars will also receive the $2,000 Founders’ Scholarship in addition to the $2,000 Leadership Scholarship for a total of $4,000 in scholarship funding on top of any previously awarded SU Merit-Based Scholarship. Students not selected for the Stevenson University Leadership Scholars may be awarded a Founders’ Scholarship of $2,000 on its own.

Students who meet all of the above application requirements will be notified whether or not they have been selected for Stevenson University Leadership Scholars program by Friday, March 1.
