Excelsia College (formerly Wesley Institute) is a tertiary education provider in Sydney, Australia offering undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in counseling, performing arts (drama and music), teacher education, and business.
Wesley Institute for Ministry & the Arts was set up by Wesley Mission, Sydney in 1989 as a Christian Institute to train students for both ministry and the creative arts. It operated from a campus at Drummoyne, New South Wales, previously the site of the Drummoyne Boys’ High School. In 2016, it relocated to Macquarie Park, New South Wales.
Government accreditation was granted in 1992.
On 4 October 2013, the Board of Trustees for Indiana Wesleyan University voted to acquire Wesley Institute, to create the IWU’s first international campus. In early 2015, Wesley Institute changed its name to Excelsia College.
Together with Indiana Wesleyan University, the college is part of a global Christian learning community. Excelsia College (formerly Wesley Institute) has 32 years of experience in Christian higher education in Australia, and IWU has 95 years of experience in Christ-centred education in the US and global markets.
Excelsia College is a Higher Education Provider registered with the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency, approved to offer FEE-HELP, Youth Allowance, Austudy and Abstudy, and registered to offer courses to international students (CRICOS Provider Code 02664K).
In the provision of higher education courses Excelsia College complies with relevant legislation, including the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011, the Higher Education Support Act 2003, and the ESOS Act 2000, and their respective Standards, Codes and Guidelines.
Excelsia College is an affiliate of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities and a member of the Council of Private Higher Education.
