Overview

The University of Tasmania (UTas) is a public research university primarily located in Tasmania, Australia. Officially founded in 1890, it was the fourth university to be established in Australia. Utas works with universities around the world to offer students an international experience as part of their study – UTas has exchange arrangements with over 60 countries throughout Europe, Asia and North America. Utas also works with researchers in many countries on issues that have international significance. A tiny sample of some of the work that UTas researchers and post-graduate students are involved in include global warming (with NASA), tourism in China, aquaculture in Vietnam, forestry in Indonesia, computing in Korea, cardio-vascular disease with the World Health Organisation and mineral resources projects in 17 countries.

Undergraduate degrees at UTas can be undertaken by students through its bachelor’s and honours program. Students may apply for admission to the university on the basis of meeting General Entry Requirements (GER). UTas is a good place to study because of its commitment to excellence in learning and teaching as well as in research development.

The university also provides undergraduate students with the benefits of smaller classes, personalized attention and ready access to lecturers and tutors. The annual undergraduate tuition fees are $26,500 for business courses, $25,500 for Arts/Education, and $31,500 for Engineering/Science.

The Tasmanian International Scholarship (TIS) provides commencing international students with a partial reduction in registered tuition fees for the duration of their course, provided satisfactory grades are maintained. TIS is available for most undergraduate and postgraduate coursework degrees offered by UTas.

Eligibility and Requirements Eligibility: Recipients must achieve a minimum 'Distinction' (6.0/7.0) overall average at the end of the first semester for the scholarship to continue to be applied to the second semester's fees.

Other Details The Foundation Studies Program High Achiever Scholarship is offered to encourage and assist high achieving students in undertaking study at the University of Tasmania. FSP to Degree Scholarship
Total Worth 10% reduction in registered tuition fees for the duration of the course.
Eligibility and Requirements Eligibility: The FSP to Degree Scholarship is available to University of Tasmania FSP graduates who have applied for an undergraduate course at UTAS. Please note that if a student is offered a Tasmanian International Scholarship (TIS), AMC Tuition Fee Bursary or Family Alumni Bursary the FSP to Degree Scholarship will not apply.

Other Details This scholarship provides international students who have completed the University's Foundation Studies Program (FSP) with a 10% tuition fee reduction in their undergraduate coursework program. The scholarship is available for all undergraduate programs (with the exception of the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree).
