The University of Sheffield (informally Sheffield University) is a public research university in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. Sheffield is a multi-campus university predominantly over two campus areas: the Western Bank and the St George’s. The university is organised into five academic faculties composed of multiple departments. It had 20,005 undergraduate and 8,710 postgraduate students in 2016/17.

Sheffield ranks among the top 10 of UK universities for research grant funding. Sheffield was placed 75th worldwide and 13th in the UK according to QS World University Rankings and 106th worldwide and 12th in the UK according to Times Higher Education World University Rankings. It was ranked 12th in the UK amongst multi-faculty institutions for the quality (GPA) of its research and for its Research Power in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework. In 2011, Sheffield was named ‘University of the Year’ in the Times Higher Education awards.

There are eight Nobel laureates affiliated with Sheffield and six of them are the alumni or former long-term staff of the university.

Other Details The support an ESPS athlete receives includes strength and conditioning (specialist coaching and access to specific facilities), discounted physiotherapy support, lifestyle mentoring (psychology and nutrition), peak S10health gym membership. Level 2 athletes could receive a £1,000 award or two first-year students could get their years accommodation for free (in lieu if the monetary award). All athletes who are awarded a place on the scheme are expected to represent The University of Sheffield wherever possible.

Eligibility and Requirements You must receive an offer to study a full-time or part-time undergraduate programme at the University of Sheffield by 19 April 2019. Your programme must be scheduled to commence at the University of Sheffield in September 2019. You must receive an offer for a course studied in full at the University of Sheffield. Degree programmes split between the University of Sheffield and a partner institution are not eligible to apply for a scholarship. All undergraduate degree courses are eligible with the exceptions of Medicine (A100/A101) and Dentistry (A200). For tuition fee purposes you must be self-funded and eligible to pay the overseas tuition fee. You must not be a sponsored student*. You must enter a degree programme at the University of Sheffield in programme year 1 or year 2.
