Southern Cross University (SCU) is an Australian public university, with campuses at Lismore and Coffs Harbour in northern New South Wales, and at the southern end of the Gold Coast in Queensland.
SCU offers undergraduate courses in study areas that suit students’ interests and professional goals. Undergraduate students can choose from flexible study options such as the on-campus study and online/distance education.
Southern Cross University has created comprehensive support services for overseas students. Support starts as early as pre-departure. International students are given information about organizing student visa, things and important documents to bring, understanding OSHC insurance, safety in Australia and accommodation options. Once students are properly settled in, the university encourages them to attend the week long comprehensive orientation for international students. Dedicated international student advisers are also available to orient students about organizing a mobile phone and internet service, opening a bank account or any random questions and concerns.
The annual undergraduate tuition fees are $20,560 for business courses, $20,560 for Arts/Education, and $27,760 for Engineering/Science.
SCU offers a range of scholarships for undergraduate, postgraduate and disadvantaged students. There are also scholarships available to help students study overseas for a short period as an international exchange student. The basis for scholarship selection varies widely, depending on the scholarship and degree that a student is applying for.
Through SCU’s rising stars program, scholarships are made available by the vice chancellor, industry providers and generous donors who believe in the value of education. The Australian Government also provides scholarships. While the selection criteria may differ, SCU scholarships are designed to recognize academic achievement, community involvement and leadership.
