Overview

Central Queensland University (branded as CQUniversity) is an Australian public university based in central Queensland. CQ University is the only Australian university with a campus presence in every mainland state. Its main campus is at Norman Gardens in Rockhampton, however, it also has campuses in Adelaide (Wayville), Brisbane, Bundaberg (Branyan), Cairns, Emerald, Gladstone (SouthGladstone and Callemondah), Mackay (central business district and Ooralea), Melbourne, Noosa, Perth, Rockhampton City, Sydney and Townsville. CQUniversity also partners with university centres in several regional areas across Australia.

CQUniversity also delivers courses in discipline areas including apprenticeships, trades and training, business, accounting and law, creative, performing and visual arts, education and humanities, engineering and built environment, health, information technology and digital media, psychology, social work and community services, science and environment, and work and study preparation.

Basic entry requirements include English and academic requirements and supporting documents. Practical experience is very important at CQU and to provide undergraduate students with apprenticeships and traineeships, the university has formed partnerships with business establishments and government and community institutions.

CQU has a wide range of support programs for overseas students. Before coming to Australia, students can download an International Student Guide available at the university’s page. It contains important information about Visas and Overseas Student Health Cover, Pre-departure information, Accommodation, Late arrivals, Enrolment and Orientation.

Life in a new country can be challenging so the university has prepared a range of activities to help students settle in Australia and learn about the range of support services and opportunities at the campus they will be studying at. International students may request for assistance from student advisers who are available to answer questions and other concerns. Along with all these, the university also grants scholarships for international students who are found eligible.

CQU offers a wide variety of scholarships to support students in all study areas at vocational, undergraduate, postgraduate and research level of study. Equity, indigenous and international student scholarships are on offer at the university. There are also scholarships supported by external agencies, communities and industry partners and the Australian government.

The vice-chancellor’s scholarship is open to international students who intend to study an undergraduate or postgraduate degree at CQU. It is a merit-based scholarship and application is assessed based on previous academic results which must meet the minimum selection criteria.
