Chisholm Institute

Chisholm Institute is a Technical and Further Education (TAFE) Institute located in south-east Melbourne, Australia. It provides adult education in a number of areas including the arts, hospitality, information technology, trades, and business. Chisholm offers over 500 certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas, and graduate certificate courses.

The Institute takes its name from Caroline Chisholm. Its name was also inspired by the Chisholm Institute of Technology, a tertiary institution that operated in southeast Melbourne from 1982 to 1990 before becoming part of Monash University.

Chisholm Institute has campuses in Dandenong, Berwick, Frankston, Wonthaggi, Cranbourne, and Mornington Peninsula Campus along with central Melbourne.

Berwick Technical Education Centre (TEC) was established at the Berwick campus with the new building completed in 2009. A new trade careers center worth $26 million associated with the TEC was announced in the 2011 State Budget in May.

Chisholm is Victoria’s premier public vocational education and training provider. It offers over 250 certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas, bachelor’s, and graduate certificate courses.

Chisholm has courses on Art and Design, Automotive and Logistics, Building Trades, Business, Community Services, Computer Technology, Early Childhood Education and Care, Employment Preparation and Foundation, Engineering and Electronics, Hair, Beauty and Make-up, Health, Higher Education, Horticulture and Conservation, Hospitality and Events, Short Courses, Sport, Fitness and Massage, Training and Assessment, VET Delivered to Secondary Students, Years 11 and 12 / VCE and VCAL, and Workplace Safety.

If you need a study solution that considers your work or family commitments, the institute has online courses that are perfect for you. It offers 20 courses online, ranging from Certificate IV to Diploma and Graduate Certificate qualifications, and delivers these in a virtual classroom with innovative learning tools. Each online course includes access to assistance seven days a week and encourages you to learn at your own pace, in your own time.

The institute also delivers training in the workplace. This may include work placement as part of your course work—so you get real on-the-job experience with your nationally recognized qualification. The institute also has apprenticeship courses to increase your skills and qualifications which can make all the difference in your career options.
