Overview

The Australian National University (ANU) is a public national research university located in Canberra, the capital of Australia. Its main campus in Acton encompasses seven teaching and research colleges, in addition to several national academies and institutes.

Undergraduate students at ANU can choose from many available course offerings. Areas of study include engineering and computer science, law, medicine, biology and environment, physical and mathematical sciences, arts and social sciences and business and economics. The university has created helpful support services to address international students. Before coming to Australia, students may seek the advice of ANU’s International Agent Representatives present in their respective countries.

Tuition fees vary depending upon the student’s status and the course being taken. The annual tuition fees are $39,024 for business courses, $36,720 for Arts/Education, and $41,040 for Engineering/Science.

ANU has a number of scholarships available for students to help with the cost of their studies. Donors and benefactors, external organizations and the Australian government, fund many of the scholarships that the university offers. Scholarships range from academic to sports and are available for different undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. In addition to the internal scholarships offered by ANU, there are scholarship opportunities offered by overseas governments, and other industry partners and affiliates.

Tuckwell Scholarship
Total Worth $21,700 per annum for upto 3 years
Eligibility and Requirements Be in Year 12, Be aged between 16-20 years, Be aged between 16-20 years, Have studied one or more English subjects (at a standard level) for at least one semester in Year 11* and achieved a grade of B- or higher or equivalent (6 or higher for IB students) in at least one of those subjects; Have studied one or more Mathematics subjects (at a standard level) for at least one semester in Year 11* and achieved a grade of B- or higher or equivalent (6 or higher for IB students) in at least one of those subjects; Be an Australian citizen or the holder of an Australian humanitarian visa and be connected and committed to Australia, able to attend in-person interview

Other Details The Tuckwell Scholarship Program at the ANU is the most transformational undergraduate scholarship program in Australia. Now in its fifth year, the program currently supports 110 Tuckwell Scholars at various stages of their undergraduate degrees. The Scholarships, founded in 2013 by philanthropists Graham and Louise Tuckwell, allow and encourage students to take full advantage of their time at university, including the many academic, social, cultural sporting and leadership opportunities that come with life on campus at ANU. Every year, 25 Tuckwell Scholarships are awarded to highly talented and motivated school leavers planning to study at ANU, to help them fulfil their potential and reinvest their knowledge, skills and experience in ways that positively benefit others. The program has a focus on giving back to Australia and is the only one of its kind that nurtures Scholars to fulfil their broader community ambitions over and above the pursuit of an undergraduate degree.
National University Scholarship
Total Worth $12,500 per annum for upto 5 years
Eligibility and Requirements Australian or New Zealand citizen, or holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or Permanent Humantarian Visa. Completed Year 12 or equivalent in 2018 or; completed Year 12 or equivalent in 2017(A gap year of up to 12 months for the purpose of travel and/or work will not impact on eligibility for this scholarship) Have not enrolled in a tertiary program Have put at least one ANU program as a first, second or third preference when applying for admission through the Universities Admissions Centre (NSW & ACT).

Other Details The National University Scholarship aims reward academic excellence in secondary school studies by providing assistance with living costs and other expenses related to tertiary studies.
ANU Sport and Recreation Association Scholarship
Total Worth $5,000 per annum for upto 5years
Eligibility and Requirements Is a domestic or international student; and Is enrolled or enrolling in an undergraduate degree or postgraduate coursework or Higher Degree Research program at ANU; and can demonstrate a potential for, or history of, excellence in athletic performance.

Other Details The Australian National University recognises the value of sporting excellence, and is proud to provide the opportunity for emerging athletes and talented sportspeople to access financial assistance to promote success in their academic and athletic goals. This scholarship aims to attract talented and emerging athletes to study at the ANU, and to support the development of community and sport leaders for the future. This scholarship is open to all new students to the ANU, who can demonstrate a history of or potential for sporting excellence, supported by an affiliated club or sporting organisation. Undergraduate, postgraduate coursework or higher degree research program students, as well as both domestic and international students, are welcome to apply.
