Overview

Edith Cowan University (ECU) is an Australian public university located in Perth, Western Australia. It was named after the first woman to be elected to an Australian Parliament, Edith Cowan, and is the only Australian university named after a woman.

ECU has more than 31,000 students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. More than 6,000 international students originating from more than 100 countries study with ECU each year. This includes the offshore delivery of a variety of courses in a number of countries, student and staff exchange programs with other universities, joint research activities, international consultancies and individual academic links.

The university offers more than 300 courses across two metropolitan campuses, in Mount Lawley and Joondalup, and a regional campus in the South West, Bunbury, 200 km south of Perth, many courses are also offered for study online. Additionally, the university has partnerships with several education institutions to conduct courses and programs offshore.

ECU undergraduate courses are grouped together into 12 broad study areas, making it easier for students to find disciplines and major subjects. The 12 areas of study include biology and environmental sciences, business, communications and arts, computing and security, engineering and technology, exercise and health sciences, law and justice, medical and paramedical sciences, nursing and midwifery, psychology and social science, teacher education and western Australian academy of performing arts. The minimum admission requirements for our undergraduate courses can include the indicative ATAR (TER) and English competency.

The Edith Cowan University has an exceptional support service plan for overseas students. Before they leave home, students are advised to gain access to the pre-departure guide available at the university website. The university offers arrival reception and transfer to accommodation, booking of temporary accommodation and will even assist students with finding housing. Accommodation options include on campus and rental accommodations and homestay.

After students are settled, they will be attending orientation programs and social events to meet other students and learn more about ECU. Academic support such as peer mentoring and guidance services are also available. Aside from this, international students may ask for assistance from learning advisors who will help them throughout their study. ECU has a wide range of international student scholarships rewarded to eligible students.

ECU offers a range of scholarships to assist students while they study in the university. The university has available scholarships for students who are studying undergraduate, honours and postgraduate and higher degree by research programs. To increase a student’s opportunity of gaining a scholarship, ECU also provides access to information about external scholarships and awards.

Aside from all these, students can search for a scholarship by looking for a criteria group that relates to them. These criteria form the main part of the eligibility requirements for a scholarship. Examples of scholarships by criteria include financial hardship scholarships, Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait islander student scholarships, rural student support scholarships, academic scholarships and international student scholarships.
